My Vaccine

Covid is really a distressing situation for all of us. No matter your religion, color, caste, nationality, gender or political belief, you as a human are at risk of getting infected with china developed corona virus. Though, it is still ambiguous that the virus is genetically engineered in wuhan labs, but china is a real suspect.

However, I'll share my jab experience. Time is precious for all, hence we have the slots on cowin and am asked to report only 15 mins prior to my slot of 11:00 AM - 12 Noon on Sunday, June the 13th at x-place, Rudrapur.

I am on time at 10:45, with a personal sanitizer and mask on, have parked my car at main entrance. I am informed that vaccination drive is being carried out on the back gate.

The queue is till outside with 6-7 people visible. As I enter to peek, more than 100 people have gather inside the courtyard.

I stand at the end of the queue in assumption that these people will get vaccinated in a few minutes and it'll be my turn next.

But, to my surprise, I am told by the person next to me, that he had a slot for 9'o clock sharp in the morning.

A thought ran through my mind to cancel the current slot and book for a next one. What if the situation is same on the next day also. Getting a slot is itself an achievement these days. I choose to get my first dose today.

How to efficiently use this time gap? Social media? Talk to a friend? Discuss with strangers? There are indeed a lot of options. As I take my mobile phone out, I see a riddle sent by one of the colleagues. As I start to solve this puzzle, I hear many people ranting about mismanagement, for how long they're here, how they can have more volunteers (since they can only accommodate one person at a time), etc.

Someone tried a small talk with me. I vaguely nodded my head in yes and no, showing disinterest. Back to my puzzle, it is interesting and requires to use my english vocab entirely. I could only solve 30-40% of it and I am already bored and now am writing thi article about my covid vaccination experience. Its 12:05 already and am still in the same queue but closer to the where they are allowing people inside barricading. No social distancing norms are being followed. Let me take a snap ( no not allowed, cause it may trigger norm violation). Atleast they are aware. In return, I shoot a question of why the process is delayed. The response is pretty expected. The delay was from backend, maybe some clearance from the official. They started at 9:30 in the morning as opposed to 8'o clock. Hence the delay. However, still unsatisfied with the justification.

Now, I have small plastic seat about 20 in count before I get myself verified to get a jab. I have triggered my stopwatch to time this process and later evaluate the time lost. In the recent past, I have grown my senses and become more observant.

This process, including getting verified and getting a shot took less than 2 minutes.
